Walking for RUH Bath – day five, into the woods

Our walk began with a ‘down’ today – down into the cool green woods, and on and on. There was birdsong, and deer, and the burble of occasional hikers. Perfect we thought, and our feet relaxed.

Walking for RUH Bath – day four, thanks for the trees

Today was my first taste of solo walking. I set off imagining the thousands of horrors, of which the two most likely were: falling over, and getting lost. The first did not happen … but the second did.

It started well. This was the view that I found after conquering a path described as one that ‘rises steadily’.

Walking for RUH Bath – day three was long

Above is a photograph of sunset last night over St Peter’s Church in Winchcombe, apparently one of the ‘great wool churches’. We saw this view as we ambled through the town and stretched out our feet. Little did they, or we know, the ups and downs that were coming.

This morning we found out.
