I’ve just read the Napoli section of Goethe’s ‘Italian Journey’

There are names I heard at school that are still buried beneath teacher dust. Names I’ve never looked at again – unreachable, academic names.  Goethe was one of them.

Then, a few weeks ago, I bumped into him on the internet and I read his notes on Naples.  They were a happy find.

Review of a cookery book: ‘bitten.’ by Sarah Graham

BittenCoverFinal.inddCookery books heap in my kitchen cupboard.  Some carry the scars of years of service whilst others have slipped to the back of the pile – lost and unused.  But ‘bitten.’ by Sarah Graham is at the top and it’s only been with me a year.

Book Review: I Am Zlatan Ibrahimovic (told to David Lagercrantz)

(November 2012 Sweden played England – the score 4 -2 – all four goals were scored by Zlatan).

Zlatan Ibrahimovic is a six foot five inch Swede whose parents are from the former Yugoslavia.  He is one of football’s greatest strikers.

This book is about football from where he stands. The pace is agitated and powerful and page one starts with the two words that have caused the striker the greatest upset to date – Pep Guardiola.
